#TS4 – Gaming It Up

It’s been a lot of gaming around our house lately. The Boyfriend has recently gotten a bunch of new games including Neverwinter, Mortal Kombat X and State of Decay for the Xbox One, so it means that all he wants to do is play the games.

I had awhile of working really hard on stuff and then finally got down to fixing The Sims 4. I had a pretty big glitch go on with not only my content packs but also the Origin downloader, so I spent a night uninstalling and re-installing everything (or repairing, in the case of the content packs) and once I finally got back on, I’ve been pretty hooked to it…

I haven’t played The Rayne Legacy at all recently, because I was determined to try out all the careers in the expansion pack. I don’t want to use the expansion for The Rayne Legacy, so I created new families for the careers. I tried the Doctor first, because it was the one I was looking forward to the most. I’ve experimented a little bit with the Scientist and currently, I’m working on the Detective and Retail Business Owner careers.

One thing that I’ve been doing a lot of lately, that I’ve only been doing since the expansion came out, is cheating for Simoleons.

When you want a retail business really badly and when you play like I do, where you don’t stick with anything for longer than two seconds, it’s just about the only way. And I don’t like the cheating. It’s not my usual style on The Sims 4 especially, but I only cheat until that retail business is bought and then I say no to the motherlode-ing (CTRL + Shift + C then “motherlode”).

Today, I plan on not playing. Or if I do play, I plan on either (a) focusing on building and screenshot-ing, because I’ve got tons half done on all that, or (b) playing on The Rayne Legacy, because I’ve been neglecting Evyn for far too long.

So, any Simmers reading this?

#TS4 – Big Changes are Coming for #TheRayneLegacy

It took me awhile to gear up to play more of The Sims 4, as I was impatiently awaiting the release of the Get to Work expansion pack (read more about that here…). The Boyfriend finally convinced me to play #TheRayneLegacy again and I spent probably two or three days playing for large portions of the day.

Felicity and Geisha had a birthday and became teenagers.

They both worked diligently on honing their skills and each of them got a job; Felicity as a landscaper and Geisha as a babysitter. There has been a lot of playing instruments, going to work, going to school, gardening and cooking in their lives of late.

All three girls went on another family camping trip, and aside from the fact that Geisha gets a negative moodlet every time she interacts with her friend, the bear, it was a pretty great experience.

They returned home just in time for Evyn’s birthday. I have yet to be able to get over a bronze medal for a birthday party with #TheRayneLegacy…

Happy Birthday Evyn!

Happy Birthday Evyn!

Now, we are definitely getting close to the end of an era – a.k.a the end of the first generation of my legacy-esque challenge. I suspect that the next time I get on here, Evyn will die as she has been perpetually tense or uncomfortable and that Felicity and Geisha will age up to Young Adults.

As you’ll probably remember, I’ve chosen to stick with a first-born matriarchy, so Felicity will become the heir to the 2nd generation of #TheRayneLegacy.

As I said, big changes are coming! And I couldn’t be more excited!!!

#TS4 – Happy Valentine’s Day from #TheRayneLegacy

After having an incredibly productive day yesterday, I decided it was time to play The Sims 4. The game notified me about their WooHoo Weekend. So because my file with The Boyfriend & I already had a couple who were ready to WooHoo, I played that last night. Today, I decided to check in on Evyn and The Rayne Legacy.

Recently, Evyn had met Elijah McWilliams on a camping trip. She decided to call him up and invite him over and over the course of the next two days, they went from hardly knowing each other to steamy exchanges.

Then, Evyn prepared a delicious chilli dinner and sat down with her two favorite girls in the whole world for a nice Valentine’s Day meal.

Felicity and Geisha went outside to play and Evyn made some pretty bold moves with Elijah. First kiss, first time WooHoo-ing and a new boy toy – best Valentine’s Day ever!

In total over the past two days, I’ve contributed approximately 7 WooHoo’s to the 4-5 million the game is looking for. I really hope to get the gnome, because it is by far the cutest one yet. And while Evyn’s hair is all set (at least until she has her next birthday), it would be really great to get new hairstyles for the girls when they age up next – which isn’t that long away!

#TS4: A Weekend in Granite Falls

It’s been quite awhile since I last played The Rayne Legacy. I’ve started so many other families experimenting with various things that I haven’t even paid any attention to Evyn, Felicity and Geisha. Today, I decided to change that.

Evyn’s been pretty unhappy as she works towards her next promotion. She just does not like filling out reports on her computer, no matter how friendly I try to make the area for her.

Evyn at the Computer

The girls have been working towards completing their various milestones, because I’m desperate to age them up, but don’t want to do it until they’ve completed their childish aspirations. Geisha took forever because Evyn wouldn’t read to her, but finally, we got over that. Felicity has been busy creating some pretty interesting pieces of art, which I plan to display eventually.

Finally, the girls took a camping trip. After saving up for days they were finally ready to go and spent three days out in the wilderness. Evyn collected a bunch of new plants, frogs and even some insects. Geisha decided to go fishing and generally spent the entire vacation in a fowl mood. Felicity spent most of her time socializing with the other campers and sitting around the campfires. They even had an awesome game of horseshoes!

Next time I play, I plan on aging up the twins, Felicity and Geisha. I’m excited to see what they’ll look like as teenagers. I’m considering trying to get Evyn to fall in love with someone and have another baby before she’s officially too old, but we’ll see how the next session goes.

Until the next time 😉

#TS4 – End Tables and Pirate Ships

I have not been playing nearly enough of The Sims 4. Okay, that’s a bit of a lie. Just not enough of The Rayne Legacy. I went back to it but quickly became bored and then The Boyfriend was a sweetheart and let me buy some other games.

So not only did I get the new “game pack” for The Sims 4 but I also bought myself Hotel Giant 2, which I can waste way too many hours on! Because I bought the game pack though, I had to start a new family so that I could experiment with it right off the bat, because I couldn’t with The Rayne Legacy – it’s just not how I roll!

However, I figured I’d share a little bit of what Evyn, Felicity and Geisha did the last time I played.

First, Evyn bought a workbench. The house is still rather lacking in decorative furniture, so she decided that she would make an end table for the living room area. She started with a few slabs of wood…

And ended up making this beautiful end table:

Evyn's End Table!

Evyn’s End Table!

I wonder what she’ll make next?

Then, the girls were on their way home from school and Evyn decided it would be the perfect time to hop in for a swim, especially being that she was feeling pretty tense. Then the girls got home and they all had fun in the tiny pool.

Finally, Felicity and Geisha both needed to get out of the house for awhile. They had never been to Magnolia Park, so headed down to check out the playground. Not only did they get to meet two new friends but they had a blast playing on the Pirate Ship.

Argh, Matey!

TS4 #VOTE: Who do you like better? Ashton vs. Evyn

Yesterday, I introduced you to my newest legacy-esque founder, Evyn Rayne. I thought it would be fun to do a little vote here on the blog. Take a moment to look through the pictures and posts linked below and then check out the poll and leave your vote.

FOUNDER #1 – Ashton Rayne

Ashton began her journey in Oasis Springs where she quickly excelled in her mission to become a best-selling author. Soon, she was meeting her soulmate and the future father of her children, Walker. Walker and Ashton grew old together and faced many hardships. They were lovingly cared for into old age by their daughter Aria and sons Thunder and Rain. They were pre-deceased, due to a game glitch, by their daughter Riley Rayne.

TS4: Introducing Evyn Rayne & The Rayne Legacy

Okay, so after I officially gave up on Ashton Rayne and The Rayne Household, it took me a really long time to get back to playing the game. I was being really stubborn about it too and did some things I’m not so proud of, such as starting and ending two more families rather abruptly.

I decided to carry on with the naming scheme of my lead female characters going through the alphabet. So, there was Ashton, as you know. Then, I started Blyss Rayne and carried on through to her having a child with a guy she wasn’t married to, and she named that daughter Crimson. I deleted her and created Deja Rayne next. She lasted even less time than Blyss and then I didn’t play again for a few days.

About two days ago, The Boyfriend lovingly convinced me to play The Sims 4 so that he could play games longer. So now, I’d like to introduce to you, Evyn Rayne.

Evyn Rayne - CloseUp

Evyn Rayne – CloseUp

Evyn decided to try out one of the brand new careers that was added and entered into the Business track. Who knows what the future holds at this point, but hopefully the fact that she’s ambitious and a genius will help her out.

Evyn Rayne's Business Attire

She’s still saving up money at this point to build walls, but she’s got the bare necessities and really, what else could this girl need?!? Technically, she could sell all the collectibles and frogs and plants that she’s hoarding in her inventory for a fat sum of cash, but since she’s a Collector, I doubt that’s going to happen.

The Rayne Legacy, like The Rayne Household, is another legacy-esque challenge with heirs being first-born daugthers. Adopted children are not eligible to become heirs.

Finally, here’s the totally awesome holiday sweater that Evyn’s wearing this season 😉 Isn’t it just the best?

TS4 – Goodbye Rayne, Hello Starting Over…

What a horrible day today…

I’ve spent pretty much all darn day on The Sims 4. I re-built The Rayne Household, which took me so darn long it was ridiculous. I just couldn’t get it right if my life depended on it. Even the finished product is missing a bunch of things…

I’m almost sure that I saved at this point. But my game had been lagging dramatically since I had first started playing. I’m sure I saved…

Then, Thunder had a birthday that went unnoticed. It wasn’t really anyone’s fault. We all knew it was 2 days away and then all of a sudden, it was time to age up. Normally, I get the “birthday in 2 days” notice and bake a cake and get that party started. Somehow, none of that happened.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Maybe it was the fashion show that I decided to make the family have…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

All of a sudden, I couldn’t save my game. It just kept saying it was in a state that could not be saved. It was stuck on Thunder aging up and when I tried to fix it, it just made him an adult – but without any of the usual fun that comes with becoming an adult. He was still teenage Thunder, and I couldn’t save the game.

In a very drastic and sudden move, at the idea of losing hours upon hours of gameplay once more, I quickly exited the game, realized how much time I had just lost, and deleted every single save of The Rayne Household.

I’m sick of the glitches and I want to play with all the knowledge I now have about the game, instead of learning it over time during what I think is one of the hardest things in the world to do – play a family over and over and over and over again…

So, today I say “Goodbye Ashton, Walker, Rain, Thunder, Aria and all the Rayne babies that no longer exist” and I say “Hello to a brand new day, this time, in Willow Creek!”…

TS4 – Various Builds in Willow Creek

I have been spending way too much time on The Sims 4 these last few days. Yes, I’ve still been working hard on The Rayne Household but I’ve also been sidetracked quite a few times.

I spent a good few hours in the forums the other day, partially because it’s a good way to get updates about the game (and with the recent addition of pools, I wanted to be updated) but mostly because I have been trying to get enough points to officially be considered a member, so that I can start posting links and images… I’m about 25 points away still…

However, trolling the forums got me really excited about building, especially after reading through some tutorials and browing the gallery for inspiration. I decided to start a new game just so that I could experiment with various builds. So today, I’d like to show you some of what I’ve been up to.

The Pool - Full View

The Pool – Full View

First, I wanted to experiment with the pools and so I built a public pool/park. It’s the only build on this list that is completely done, decorations and all. It’s got a handful of fountains, is secluded by these wonderful trees and has two private pools, an indoor/outdoor pool and a rooftop pool.

Then, I began work on my library. Thank goodness it gives you an unlimited amount of money, because the computers alone in this building brought the price up by almost $100,000!!

After the pool and the library, I decided it was time to get started on the Nightclub, Lounge and Bar. I decided to put all of these place on bigger lots than they originally appeared on and made them much bigger and cooler. First, I did my bar, which was a quick and easy build:

My nightclub was a fun build, especially being that I experimented with roof styles for the first time in a long time. I still have a lot of small stuff to add to this and some details like rugs and such are missing, but I just finished the exterior and such today.

The dance floor is on the main level, then there’s a pretty sexy dining hall and finally the VIP lounge with live music and cards.

Finally, and a place I’d love to visit in real life, is my Lounge. It was my first time experimenting with the counters and the various ways you can position them if you turn the auto counters off. The roof was also a crazy experimentation that turned out better than I thought it would.

The Lounge

The Lounge

I still have quite a few little details to add to this one as well, and tons of landscaping left to do, but I’m leaving it for now while I finish up at least the skeletons of all the other buildings that I’m changing in Willow Creek.

Now that those buildings are all done, I just have a couple more to do. Next up, I’ll be working on the gym, which I’m planning to make some lane-inspired pools. Then, I’ve got a museum to work on and the big park which I don’t know for sure if I’m going to change yet… I’m also going to make an arcade, which isn’t actually a lot type, but I’m just going to wing it.

Then I’ve got 15 houses to build, and I kind of plan on making families for each of those places. My original family for this one is like a gaming team, they all have the exact same traits (Bro, Geek and Lazy), so it should be interesting if I ever get past the build part to actually playing.

I do have some posts planned to update you on The Rayne Household, just have to remember to start taking screenshots. Unfortunately, with everyone aging up so closely to one another, there’s a lot of unhappiness in the house right now and everyone is feeling mighty uncomfortable.

So, out of the builds above, which one is your favorite and why?

TS4 – 1st Generation Children: 2 Spares and 1 Heir

It’s been quite a few days since I last played. Lots of house-cleaning, lots of family-related outings for Carter’s fifth birthday and barely any time on my computer. So a couple days back, The Boyfriend begged to be allowed to play Project Spark and after much procrastination, I finally made my way back to my Sims 4 legacy-esque challenge.

Ashton and Walker Get Engaged!

Ashton and Walker Get Engaged!

In case you’ve missed it, I started with my founder Ashton Rayne –  a creative genius who loves books and aspired to become a famous author. She quickly fell in love with Walker Gould and they immediately began working towards building their family.

She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl...

She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl…

A major glitch caused the first baby Walker and Ashton had together to disappear (RIP Riley Rayne), but it didn’t take long for them to have their first non-glitch baby, a boy they named Rain. After Rain, they gave birth to Thunder and then they had 5 babies born as boys in a row. At this point, I said “Screw it, I’m not playing the real legacy challenge anyways” and deleted those five boys and finally, Ashton and Walker tried one last time.

From left to right: Thunder, Aria and Rain

From left to right: Thunder, Aria and Rain

Imagine my excitement, just as I’d resigned myself to never having an heir, when our first-born female (and official heir of the 2nd generation), Aria Rayne was born. Aria knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a musician and today, only a day after aging up to a teenager, she is working her way towards that goal. Although her big focus right now is school (and tons of extra credit work) and her new job as a Sales Floor Clerk, she is spending all her free time working on learning the piano and fiddling around with her violin.

Currently, each of my Sims is working on different things. Ashton is desperately trying to get to Level 10 of the Author Branch of the Writing career, however she is not doing so well at it because she can’t seem to stay happy if her life depended on it. She also has the aspiration to “beat writer’s block” and yet can’t figure out a single activity to erradicate it. She keeps getting promoted to novelist and then demoted to short story writer and has been going back and forth between those two career posts for the last long while of playing.

Walker completed the Master Chef branch of the Culinary career and all it took is three birthday parties and a fridge full of gourmet meals! After he completed that career milestone, he picked a new career and is now working towards becoming an Astronaut and since he completed his dream of becoming a Master Chef, he’s now wanting to become a Bodybuilder.

Rain was recently hired as Barista, which works out great because his big aspiration is to become a Master Mixologist. Thunder wants to become a Tech Guru, so is working on hard on programming and hacking, although he’s working as a Manual Labourer currently.

After playing way too many hours today, I began to rebuild the house that I was not so happy with anymore. It was great for when all the kids were children, but now that they’re teenagers, it’s just not flowing with us very well. Plus, I barely had any place to put decorative items and it turns out that unless you sell a lot of those, you get a lot of them. I don’t want to sell them, I want to hoard them. So, a rebuild of the house was necessary.

I started out with a house that looked like this and $100,000:

The Rayne Household - Front Aerial View

The Rayne Household – Front Aerial View

Then, I deleted everything and sold most of my belongings, which left me with about $300,000. I’ve completed a kitchen, dining room, entertainment room, living room and two outdoor living spaces and have about $600 leftover. I still have two floors left to finish and only one bed between five Sims… However, now my house is looking like this:

The Rayne Household - Front Aerial View

The Rayne Household – Front Aerial View

So that’s what I’ve gotten done in my Sims 4 legacy-esque challenge. The next couple of game days will be all about raising up my money again to be able to continue with the build of my house, that way I can give you all some nice progression shots.

And now, for some awesome stats (there’s a lot of them!)…
